Introduction
Liverpool is a fantastic port city, with rich musical heritage and sporting prowess. Liverpool is famous for a number of reasons such as for being the home city of ‘The Beatles’; being home to two of the most famous teams in English football being Liverpool FC and Everton FC as well as being home of The Grand National, the most famous horserace in the world. Oh and did we mention Liverpool is the only city to boast two Cathedrals.

The Docks
This is a city in which boasts a number of tourist attractions, great bars and restaurants that will keep you busy for a fun packed weekend away with your friend or family. The advantage of the city is that the city centre is relatively small which allows you to easily walk around the centre without the need for endless taxi rides.

Friday evening
Once you have arrived in Liverpool you will find an amazing choice of bars and restaurants throughout the city centre. For a chilled out evening stroll through the city centre for a drink in the ‘Ropewalks’ area. The Peacock is a good place for a drink or two, however if you prefer a funcky cocktail then head over to Alma De Cuba bar and restaurant, an incredible converted church. Nearby you will find Liverpools Chinatown, with the pick of the Chinese restaurants being Mei Mei on Berry Street. Alternatively, try the Italian Club Fish on Bold Street, it wont dissapoint.
Saturday
Stroll over to the Albert Dock, the largest collection of grade one listed buildings in the UK. Here you will be able to check out an exhibition at Tate Liverpool before heading over to The Beatles Story. After some lunch a Gusto, don’t miss the chance to take a ride on the Yellow Duckmarine, a bus/boat hybrid that will take you around the major sites of Liverpool. On the route you will see Three Graces of Pier Head which form the skyline, St Georges Hall ans BOTH cathedrals which will be finished off splashing into the salthouse Dock for a tour around the Albert Dock. This is something that should not be missed!
Liverpool One is a great new shopping centre in the heart of the city centre which has made Liverpool a real destination for shoppers. As well as the shops there is a multi screen cinema as well as a number of restaurants just in case you’re still peckish.

Saturday evening
Liverpool is a great entertaining city so why not let your self be entertained. Why not go and see a show or some live music? The Echo Arena is the newest addition to the city waterfront with many top touring groups, bands and artists playing there throughout the year. Liverpool also boasts a number of theatres such as The Empire and Playhouse, showing some great productions. The Liverpool Philharmonic is also a fantastic venue to watch the Philharmonic orchestra live an impressive spectacular. However you decide to spend you time, we would suggest eating at The Restaurant Bar and Grill on Brunswick Street or for amazing views across the city head over to Panoramic Restaurant in the West Tower, which is just off Old Hall Street in the business district.
Sunday morning & early afternoon
A trip to Liverpool wouldn’t be complete without touring some of the old haunts of The Beatles. Stroll over to Mathew Street and see where the Fab Four used to play and drink. There are also a couple pf Beatles tours worth going on if you’re a fan. Alternatively, why not drive out to either nearby Chest, a beautiful Roman city or the seaside venue of Southport?
