Your options for Friday evening depend on the time of year, in spring, summer and autumn you can stroll along the long blue flag beach with the sound of the Atlantic waves crashing behind you and watch the surfers catching the last wave as the sun sets.

Later in the year you can simply explore Woolacombe village to get your bearings and options for eating out and shopping later in the week. Eating out on Friday after your journey to Woolacombe can be on the casual side. Try the Red Barn or The Boardwalk, usually with live music on a Friday night. There is a range of bars to visit for those who prefer a late night, while others might prefer an early night in preparation for the weekend ahead.

Saturday

Saturday starts with breakfast possibly eaten out at one of the Woolacombe village restaurants which cater for breakfast with surprisingly varied breakfast menus. Saturday can be as active or as leisurely as you like. Couples with sporting ambitions might want to try one of the following activities: Learn to sure with Nick Thorn Surf Academy or Hunter Surf. Play a round of golf at one of many North Devon Golf Courses, try clay pigeon shooting at local centres or try a four wheel challenge and have a go at quad biking or go kart racing.

Couples who would like a more leisurely time might want to explore the South West coastal path with walks taking in coastal villages and combes. These are suitable for dog owners who can also exercise their four legged friends on local beaches at certain times of the year.

Others may wish to venture further afield and visit the North Devon villages of Lynton & Lynmouth, Clovelly. Instow, Appledore, Ilfracombe and be lucky enough to watch a catch of fresh seafood and shellfish being landed.

Couples have a number of options for Saturday evening having spent the day exploring North Devon. Eating out in Woolacombe offers a varied choice of restaurant. Some of these are quaint and up market while others are traditional or surf orientated. The Bar Electric, The Courtyard,The Boardwalk and Sophia’s Tapas and Bistro to mention a few are all good options.

Alternatively you might want to venture out of Woolacombe and take in a theatre show at North Devon Theatres which run a full programme throughout the year in nearby Barnstaple and Ilfracombe.

Sunday morning & early afternoon

Sunday provides the opportunity to take in a final activity after breakfast before travelling home. If a final sure, beach ride or round of golf does not take your fancy then why not walk along the length of Woolcaombe beach to Puttsborough and enjoy a late breakfast or hot chocolate at the beach cafe.

Couples with time to spare on their way home can take a scenic route through the dramatic Exmoore countryside including Hunter’s Inn, Valley of the Rocks, Lynton, Lynmouth, Watersmeet and Simonsbath.
